Breaking news in Waite Park... Apparant police "investigation" on the 32xx block of Pierce St. NE. Several police cars have been there for several hours. Neighbors are hinting at some very disturbing reasons for the action, but I'll leave those rumors until we have some confirmation.

I will say that I've had several "run-ins" with one of the people that comes and goes from the house. I've called the police and had to chase him out of my alley and neighboring alleys multiple times for attempting to take things from neighbors' property and acting quite suspicious.

The Waite Park Neighbors & Business Association (WPNBA) is loosely organizing a Waite Park neighborhood garage sale for the weekend of May 15 – 17, 2009 to coincide with Art-A-Whirl (AAW) weekend.

There are a number of NE Minneapolis Arts Assn members who will have open studios in Waite Park during AAW, and many visitors will be traveling to Waite Park to tour their studios. There will also be a trolley carrying visitors into Waite Park on Saturday and Sunday afternoons that weekend (the trolley will travel north on Central, east on 34th Ave. NE, then south on Johnson St.). AAW weekend will be a great time to capitalize on all of the extra visitors coming to Waite Park.

Residents wishing to participate in the Waite Park neighborhood garage sale may post the details of their sale on the WPNBA companion site, Shelley’s List, click on “NE Garage Sales” in the upper right corner (list dates, hours, location, brief description of items for sale). Sales posted on the site by May 1 will be included in a downloadable map that will also be available for pick up at local merchants and coffee shops prior to the sale.

Residents are responsible for placing their own neighborhood garage sale signs. Sign placement on the trolley corridor (Central, 34th, Johnson) and near hubs of activity will be ideal (29th/Johnson, 33rd/Central).

Questions may be directed to northeastnba@live.com.
